We get a lot of questions here at AKA Dwelling regarding how to brew tea in the German glass kettles and Teapots.  Below are some tips that hopefully will help make a better cup with the glass kettles.

Ultimately, it's a matter of personal taste and the specifics of how brewing and picking the right vessel to brew your tea matters.  We believe using a glass kettle or teapot is an excellent way to heat up water quickly and easily.  The German glass kettle from Trendglas Jena allows you to see the process of the water coming up to the temperature for the perfect cup.

Tip 1: If you take one thing from this post, note this tip, the best first,  letting the water come to a boil is one of the biggest mistakes when it comes to tea brewing.   Most tea is best steeped or brewed between 150°F and 185° F degrees.  If the water is boiling that means it is at least 212° F and can damage the leaves and make them have a bitter taste or make the tea undrinkable.

Tip 2: try following the instructions that came with the tea. If you're not fully satisfied, try using a lower temperature, brewing for more/less time, or using more tea leaves. However, you should try brewing with cooler water not hotter.  Brewing teas with hotter water can be ruined whereas teas are rarely hurt much by water a few degrees too cold, please note we are talking about brewing a steeping loose tea.

Tip 3: Back to boiling water and then letting it cool removes oxygen from the water and this can impact the flavor of the tea. It's better to bring water up to temp rather than bringing it to a full boil and then drop it to the appropriate temperature.  This is another benefit of having a glass kettle, you can see what's going on, if you are using a traditional kettle with a whistle and it whistles you are too late, and the water is lost, it would be best to pour it out and start over.

Tip 4: How do you know when it is time to take the water off?  When you are looking at the glass kettle on the stove or microwave, you will notice tiny bubbles start to form at the bottom of the kettle glass kettle that temperature is around 160° F, which is fine to stop and brew and make a fantastic cup of tea.  You can use the water and brew a nice cup of tea.

Hope this helps and remember to Dwell well!
